Contemporary Watercolours: From Experiment To Outcome
£120
Take a creative journey through the 4 seasons in this jam-packed watercolour course.
"I have been using my sketchbook from the last course every day! The techniques that I learned last time have proven invaluable, not only in producing decent outcomes, but on my journey to discover my style." -K Wallis
About The Course
This pre-recorded course is perfect for absolute beginners, while also being suitable for more experienced artists looking to reengage with their sketchbook and kick-start their creativity. Investigate new techniques and fun exercises to help you to think differently about how you create art.
Caroline will share tried and tested techniques such as: wet on wet, masking fluid, lifting, glazing and composition.
By the end of the course, you will have a variety of useful art techniques under your belt as well as a sketchbook brimming full of wonderful experiments and outcomes, preparing you for a new chapter in your creative journey.
There will be a mini project to complete every working day, delivered in the form of pre-recorded videos. Each video is around 20 - 30 minutes. Every Friday there will be a major project to complete over the weekend.
What to Expect Each Week
Week 1: Inspired by the cheerful colours of spring, we’ll be experimenting with washes and masking fluid to create an underwater scene of a rainbow trout from a fish’s eye-view.
Week 2: Jump into the luscious colours of summer. Play with floral drawings and fun exploration of collage en route to create a pretty bird surrounded by lush flora.
Week 3: This week we’ll see the drama of rich jewel-like autumn shades as we experiment with painting ferns, drawing fungi and studying moths. All will be brought together in a beautiful watercolour composition.
Week 4: Explore a winter wonder-landscape with frosty colours and work on a piece that lifts your painting off the page and into 3 dimensions.
Extra Time
Within the dedicated course’s virtual classroom, access is extended for two weeks after the pre-recorded videos are posted, for continued feedback from Caroline and the chance to revisit any projects you might have missed. The extra two weeks starts on 21st December.
If you’d like even more time to complete the coursework and share your creations, you are welcome to our free online community Creative Space, where you can continue to post your project work for as long as you’d like.
