Watercolour Techniques

Caroline will demonstrate several traditional watercolour techniques for you to try out during the course.

She will also demonstrate her tried and tested creative process, from making initial sketches and deciding on composition, through to the use of templates to structure paintings.

There will be several exercises to get you familiar with the course materials and how to use them, including wet on wet paint application, wet on dry, colour lifting and shading.

The Creative Process

Caroline is excited to share her creative process with you.  You will learn how templates can make painting so much easier and less stressful.

Learn the fundamental building blocks of successful watercolour painting, leaving you freer to enjoy the actual artwork creation in a supported way.

After practising watercolour techniques in the morning, you will begin to paint your still life artwork, in the afternoon.

Caroline and Emma will be on hand all day for practical advice and support.

After The Course

You will leave the day with your completed exercises, as well as an A4 still life painting project. Caroline has included comprehensive handouts for you to also take away, so that you will be reminded of the step-by-step process that you have learnt, for future artworks

Your handouts will include templates and clear instructions. Your leftover paint and paper can be used for more practice when you get home. As your creative journey continues, ongoing practice will pay dividends and the more art you make the better you will get. You can post in our free online community Creative Space, for the chance for feedback from Caroline.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Beginners Still Life with Watercolour Day Course - it was very well thought out, planned & executed with a lot of value packed into one day. I really liked the teacher's positive attitude & encouragement, particularly in regards to embracing your own interpretations of watercolour art, and how that's what makes you unique. She made us all these beautiful day course booklets which provided very detailed explanations & demonstrated step-by-step breakdowns of her sketching and watercolouring process. I very much appreciated the care & effort that went into this day course and would absolutely recommend anyone who's interested, to give one of these courses a go! -Iris M
