Learn Watercolour Techniques
Come and spend a playful, motivational day with us, while you learn important watercolour techniques and methods. You will also have fun playing and experimenting. This 10-week course is beginner-friendly, while also being suitable for those seeking to revitalise their artistic journey. Each week you will discover a new creative process, or project idea, demonstrated by Caroline and Emma for you to complete at home. All projects have been curated by Caroline specifically for this course to fast-track your creative learning. By the end of the course, you will have filled a sketchbook with ideas and techniques to underpin your ongoing creative journey.
The Venue and Your Tutors
Get inspired by our 9-acre garden bursting with flora and fauna goodness, while being surrounded by like-minded people. Nature will underpin all of our creative play and we will access the garden for ideas and artistic reference. Your main tutor will be Caroline Tatham, a professional artist, garden designer, qualified lecturer, Royal College of Art Graduate and teacher of 30 years. Caroline loves nothing more than helping people to connect to their creative ability. You’ll also be taught by Emma Tatham, the teaching assistant, who offers practical support as well as encouragement.
Additional Resources
Optional projects will be set each week for you to complete at home to extend your learning. Please bear in mind that you will get the most out of this comprehensive course if you have time to continue your practice at home. There will be high-quality handouts to guide your learning while you try out the techniques and complete each week’s creative challenge. Bespoke Pinterest boards have been created by Caroline for you to use at home for added inspiration. Feedback and support are also offered every week via group tutorials as an opportunity to share and learn from the previous week’s optional homework. On completion of 7 weekly projects, you will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance.

Your tutor will be Caroline Tatham, a qualified lecturer who has a lifetime of experience teaching creativity.
Your teaching assistant will be Emma Tatham who will offer lots of encouragement and practical support.

Not at all. We specialise in supporting and encouraging those with no previous experience. You just need a ‘can do’ attitude!

Do not worry! We are all creative and Caroline specialises in connecting people to their inner creative voice.
You just need to be willing to give it a go. Absolute beginners are most welcome.

You will gain a greater understanding of the tried and tested techniques of watercolour painting. Techniques include wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, gradient washes, flat washes, lifting, glazing, templates, shading, splatter and masking fluid.
You will also learn about successful composition, using photographic reference, carbon transfer paper, sketchbook compilation, pattern making, atmospheric perspective, stylised flowers and foliage, colour theory and colour mixing.
Each week there will be a project for you to complete encompassing a range of techniques and subjects
if you complete each one of the projects by the end of the course, you will receive a Caroline Tatham Art certificate of completion.

Yes! You are very welcome to join our online community ‘Creative Space’ where Caroline offers encouragement and feedback to posting members. In this free group, Caroline also shares weekly botanical photographs to inspire your artwork (#CreativeSpaceNatureSpark).
There is also the chance to win prizes in the group challenges.

This course is suitable for anyone who wants to expand their creativity in a safe and supportive atmosphere and learn the fundamentals of watercolour painting and sketchbook development.

The course cost is £850, which includes a £250 non-refundable deposit and a £600 balance payable 2 weeks before the course start

Each Week, the doors open at 10am where tea and coffee will be available.
The course finishes at 4pm.
